So you are in the Dupont Circle neighborhood and need a quick fix. You want something fast, but also somewhere you can sit for a bit and relax (without the pressure of a pesky waiter just begging for a tip!). Well folks, Zorba’s Café is your place for top of the line mediterranean cuisine. This legendary establishment on 20th Street is an institution.
Zorba’s ambiance is unmatched, boasting a lovely little patio on which one can eye the passerbys while enjoying the extraordinary hummus and falafel. Hidden inside is a great balcony/loft area where you can eat without being disturbed, overlooking the neighborhood through the oversized windows. Zorba’s is the perfect place to go if you are looking for a hidden spot to dine with your older, married “friend.”
The staff at this place couldn’t be more helpful either. After dining at this place for almost 2 years now, the owner knows me by name and always knows what I want before I order it. Now, before you go in here ready to order like a starving cow who hasn’t been fed in days, be cognizant that prices can add up quickly. If you are just looking for something quick, I would recommend the Fire Feta dip, a small Greek salad, and a mini pizza. The mini pizza is the best kept secret at Zorba’s, especially for us penny-pinching 20-somethings. It’s only 4 bucks and tastes like heaven! I would suggest having it with feta cheese and kalamata olives, but to each his own. I really recommend trying this place out, especially if you want something Mediterranean without the exotic price-tag. Make sure you tell them we sent you!
